Babillard

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This is a translation of the French version, which prevails in case of discrepancy.

Babillard is a website where Montréal's student associations post their events. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what your rights are, in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

Person in charge

The person in charge of the protection of personal information is Patrick Léonnel Nzudom Ketchateu. For any question or request: contact@notrebabillard.ca.

What we collect

Without an account, you can browse “Open to all” events: we collect nothing about you.

If you create an account:

  • your first and last name;
  • your university email, and the university it indicates;
  • your password, stored encrypted by our authentication provider (nobody can read it);
  • your associations, your role in each one, and your membership requests;
  • the events you mark “I'm going”, what you save to your favourites and the associations you follow;
  • if you turn on notifications: the technical address of your device provided by your browser (to send you alerts), deleted when you turn them off;
  • if you sign up an association: its name, Instagram, description and your role in it.

Associations also post content (events, posters, logo, description), visible according to the visibility level they choose.

Why

  • To check that you're a student at a participating university.
  • To show you events from your university and your associations.
  • To let associations manage their members and their posts.
  • To keep the site secure and moderate content.

We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you.

Who can see what

  • Other users never see your email or the list of people going to an event: only the number of “I'm going”.
  • An association's admins see the first and last names of its members and of people asking to join, but never their email.
  • The Babillard team can see emails, only to verify association sign-ups, moderate content, and answer your requests.

Providers and storage location

  • Supabase: database, accounts and images, hosted in Canada (Montréal).
  • Vercel: website hosting; pages may be processed on servers in the United States.
  • Gmail (Google): sending confirmation and password reset emails (United States).
  • ImprovMX: forwarding emails sent to contact@notrebabillard.ca to our Gmail inbox (outside Canada).
  • Your browser's notification service (Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft): delivers alerts to your device if you turn them on; their content is encrypted.

These providers only use your information to provide their service. When information is processed outside Québec, we make sure it is adequately protected.

Cookies

We only use the cookies needed to keep you logged in and to remember your chosen language (French or English). No advertising or analytics cookies.

Retention and deletion

Your information is kept as long as your account exists. You can delete it at any time from My account: your profile, memberships and “I'm going” marks are then erased. Events posted for an association stay online, with no link to your account.

Your rights

You can request access to your information, its correction or deletion, and withdraw your consent, by writing to contact@notrebabillard.ca. We reply within 7 days. You can also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Privacy incidents

If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the people concerned and the Commission d'accès à l'information, as required by law.

Changes

We may change this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
